Namdeb Diamond Corporation
Namdeb Diamond Corporation (Pty) Limited is wholly owned by Namdeb Holdings (Pty) Ltd, which itself is a 50/50 joint venture between the Government of the Republic of Namibia and De Beers Centenary AG.

Namdeb's predecessor, Consolidated Diamond Mines (CDM), dates back to 1920 when diamonds were barely discovered in Namibia (Southwest Africa back then) and was a wholly owned subsidiary of De Beers until 1994.

The revenue generated has played a central role in building the social and physical infrastructure of an independent Namibia. Diamonds are an important generator of export earnings, accounting for more than 40% of export revenue and nearly 10% of GDP.

With 1600 employees, this makes Namdeb the country's largest employer after the government, and creates various opportunities for partners - not only in mining, but also in technology, enterprise development and academic research.

The bulk of Namdeb's production comes from the Mining Area No 1. All Namdeb diamonds mined at Namdeb's operation are sold to the NDTC for sorting and sale to DTC International and NDTC Sightholders.
